RCHS Buffaloes opened their competition season last Saturday at Rock Creek. The forensicators came out swinging with a 2nd place team trophy out of 20 teams in attendance, with only a 3 point difference for 1st, and 7 qualifications for state competition. Humorous solo finalists both qualifying for state were Julian Swank with 1st place, and Taylor Peters, with 3rd place. Julian qualified a 2nd event for state competition, placing 2nd in duet acting with Haidyn Price. Haidyn broke a 2nd event into finals, placing 6th in serious solo. Extemporaneous speaking saw Owen Doyle in 1st and Samuel Anderson in 2nd, both qualifying for state in 2 events respectively. Samuel's 2nd qualification was in oration, with 2nd place, while Owen's was a 1st place in impromptu speaking. Other finalists included Samantha Poppe with 4th in oration, and John Murdock placing 6th in Impromptu. The team was rounded out with students: Sam Poppe, Amelia Williams, Peyton Splichal, Layna Canfield, and Ren Wright in the very competitive prose and poetry categories. Buffs return to competition this Thursday in Lincoln, KS. Go Buffs!
The Junior High Wrestlers travel to SE of Saline on Monday, February 9th for their third meet of the year. Teams competing are SE of Saline, Council Grove, Minneapolis & Republic County.
Matches begin at 4:00 and will not be livestreamed.

Congratulations to the high school scholars bowl team for receiving 2nd place at Regionals on Thursday, February 5th. This qualifies them to compete at the 2A state scholars bowl meet on Saturday, February 14th in Bennington.
