Summer Cross Country Practices – June 2026 Summer cross country practices will begin this Wednesday the 10th. These workouts are optional, but they are highly recommended for athletes who want to prepare for the season, build fitness, and begin acclimating to warmer weather before official practices start. Incoming 7th–12th Grade Athletes * Wednesdays, 7:30–8:30 a.m. at Rocky Pond High School Athletes Only * Wednesdays, 6:30–7:30 p.m. at Rocky Pond **The additional evening practice option is being offered to accommodate high school athletes who have summer jobs or other daytime commitments. Again, all summer practices are optional, but consistent attendance will help athletes develop the fitness base necessary for a successful cross country season. We hope to see you there!

On Saturday RCHS had a runner place 7th in the 200M at the KSHSSA State Track Meet, time was posted on their website milesplit-but then a curve judge, which is very customary at large track meets indicated that our athlete had stepped out of his lane. According to the rule 5-12 Infractions for races run in lanes-A competitor shall be considered to be out of the lane when: without being fouled and while running around a curve, steps on or over the inside lane or curb for three or more consecutive steps with either or both feet. Penalty is disqualification from the event. Though not what anyone had hoped for, this athlete still had a very good season, I hope this clears up any confusion about the post and then removal of post on our athlete. Go Buffs-

Unbelievable day at the KSHSAA State Track Meet by Senior, Aden Morris, not one, not two, not even three, but FOUR medals in one day...6th place in 4x800 Relay, 7th place in high jump, 4th place as the anchor on the 4x100 Relay, and then 2nd place in a PR of 2:01.56 in the 800M to finish his day and career. He was 6th at the 600M mark and just wanted it more than the next 4 runners, what a run, that is how you finish your career. Gooooooo Buffs!!

I’m going to call this Our BIG FAT ART Road Trip!!! This past week, 9 students road tripped with Mrs. Strnad to Lucas, KS to see all things grass roots! We had an amazing time taking in all the crazy creative vibes! Mrs. Strnad even bought some rubber band earrings…we ended the day at Ms. Patty’s farm doing some plein air art sipping on some rootbeer floats! Thursday was a much needed rainy day so we spent most of it art-ing our way through Russell! We enjoyed studio time with artist David Friday and a collage workshop at the Deines Cultural Center. Thanks to our wonderful Airbnb hosts & to all the adults who helped make this trip possible!
