Sad we don’t get to critique our coffee cup self portraits on Friday, but we will be excited to get back to them on Tuesday next week!

Free meals will continue to be distributed at Jr/ Sr High on Thursday and Friday from 11:30-12:30 in a grab and go fashion at the back doors of the cafeteria. Both breakfast and lunch will be picked up from 11:30-12:30 each day. 8th grade wrapped up their Salvador Dali inspired clocks today in art... they look awesome! 🕰⏰⏱

Due to the number of cases of COVID-19 currently in the Jr/Sr High, there will be no school for the Jr/Sr High (grades 6-12) Thursday or Friday. Classes are expected to resume on Tuesday, September 7. There will be no sports practices or activities the rest of this week and no games on Thursday, Friday or Monday evenings. East Elementary will still be in school on Thursday and Friday as normal. Additional information will be posted as soon as it is available. Thank you for the continued support and patience as we work to keep our community safe and students learning in person and participating as much as possible.

The Moonlight Madness Tailgate scheduled for Thursday September 2nd has been canceled. The Promotion Committee of the Belleville Chamber & Main Street apologizes for the inconvenience but wishes all Republic County Buffaloes success this sports season. JH Football Game Time Change The Jr High football game tomorrow against Minneapolis has been changed to a 4:00 start time due to possible impending weather. Volleyball game time is still 4:15. Go Buffs!

Homecoming is coming soon! It will be on September 17 against the Minneapolis Lions! The theme for the parade is “Let the Games Begin”! This theme can be geared towards board games, video games or even the Olympic Games! We welcome all businesses and individuals to join in the fun! Call the high school office to get on the parade lineup!

REMINDER!!!! THE SENIOR PARENT MEETING ON THE CALENDAR FOR TONIGHT HAS BEEN POSTPONED !! WE WILL GET OUT INFORMATION ABOUT THE NEW DATE AND TIME ONCE IT HAS BEEN SCHEDULED!!

USD 109 has adopted a Test to Stay/Test to Play testing strategy through a grant from KDHE for students whose parents opt-in for them to participate if the student qualifies for a modified quarantine. The testing strategy allows for students if they are opted-in by their parents to stay learning in person and participate in extracurricular activities as long as they test negative (Antigen Rapid Test) each morning and wear a mask while inside the building during the duration of their modified quarantine. Please refer to the attached document for additional information and feel free to complete the document and return to your child's school if would like to opt them in for this opportunity to remain in person learning and participating in the case they become a close contact. 8th graders are currently exploring art and the Spanish culture for this 9 weeks. I am so excited to be collaborating with Ms. Copple, bringing a little bit of her room into mine. Currently we have been talking about Spanish artist, Salvador Dali. As well as learning some “time” vocabulary in Spanish. We are currently creating melting clocks inspired by Dali. Monday our clock kits arrive in the mail and we can not wait!! ⏰ 🕰 ⏱

After a few meetings yesterday regarding food service, USD 109 wants to share information regarding school lunches. As you may have been hearing on the news, many suppliers are dropping delivery routes and some food items are in low supply. Ashley and OPAA have done an amazing job of stocking up on dry foods as well as frozen over the past few weeks. The only real issue right now is bread and fresh produce. We learned today that the distributor OPAA currently uses for our district has dropped their route and we will not be receiving a truck this week or in the future at this point. They are continuing to locate another supplier to deliver going forward and if worse comes to worse will get a refrigerated truck and deliver from Sams's to us. What does this mean going forward for the time being--starting Wednesday the elementary will only have one option and the jr/sr high will have only two options. None of the options will be salad due to the produce limitations. We will continue in this fashion for lunches until further notice. We will get kids fed a full meal everyday meeting USDA guidelines; it just may not be all the options they are used to having. We will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
