There were so many fun balloons in Mrs. Strait’s 4th grade class today!

Over the past week sixth grade has worked cross-curricular to learn about how the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade started. They have crafted persuasive and informative paragraphs about their float ideas in reading. Designed a detailed parade route map with reference points in science and worked through a cost of supplies activity in math. Today they finished up in STEM creating their planned floats and parading them in each others classrooms.

Make note of high school sports pictures coming up!

After reading Balloons Over Broadway and learning about the Macy’s Day Parade, Mrs. Johnson’s 5th grade class created balloons for a Dash robot parade in STEM!

Graham Jensen has been exploring photography for his independent project in advanced art. Since the darkroom is waiting on ventilation, he has been exploring cyanotypes. He recently has been researching cyanotypes on glass. We made our own gelatin earlier this week and he got his first image today!! He has some adjusting to do, but we were so excited to see an image today! Both teacher and student have learned a lot in the past 6 weeks… lots of trial and error, and lots of failed attempts. So excited to see where his project will go!
