First, it needs to be stated and made clear that the incident involving the baseball team a few weeks ago did NOT involve all members of the team. Some team members had no part and knew nothing was occurring. Secondly, as bullying has continued to be topic of discussion, we wanted to share some data from our Kansas Communities That Care (KCTC) survey. The KCTC survey is taken annually by 6, 8, 10, and 12 grade students at numerous schools across the state and is administered by Greenbush Service Center. This survey contains many more questions than just these that are being presented regarding bullying. The answers contained below are from the Spring 2022 survey. During the past 12 months, how often have you been bullied through texting, social media, or gaming? (This question does not specify during school or outside of school, so it includes both.) Everyday-4.58% Regularly (1-2 times per week)-3.82% Sometimes (1-2 times per month)-22.90% 31.30% of students During the past 12 months, how often have you been bullied at school? Everyday-3.10% Regularly (1-2 times per week)-10.08% Sometimes (1-2 times per month)-18.60% 31.78% of students This definitely continues to be a huge concern of USD #109 and we continue to focus and work to eliminate it from our schools. If you have concerns or ideas, please reach out to administrators at anytime.

School Meals for the 2022-2023 school year will no longer be free for all students. The US Congress did not extend the school meal waiver to provide free meals to all students for the upcoming school year. Families will need to complete the application for free/reduced meals, and if qualifying, will obtain the level of meal pricing. Families who do not meet the income qualifications will have to pay full price which is currently $1.80 for breakfast and lunch is $2.85 for PK-5 and $3.15 for 6-12. We wanted to provide this update after two years of free meals for everyone that this will not be the case in the 2022-2023 school year so families would have ample lead time to plan. The application and new income guidelines will be available after July 1, 2022.

And just like that, our state tournament is over. These ladies sure know how to finish strong and are the 2022 state champions in duet acting! Way to go ladies! Jaycie is sporting double medallions, as she finished 4th in a VERY competitive humorous division. Great job to all of our competitors yesterday at an awesome state tournament.
