NEX-TECH is offering two different opportunities for this year's seniors.
The first are general scholarships.
1st of all to be eligible you must live in the Nex-Tech service area AND have a parent that subscribes to one of the following Nex-Tech residential or business services: Landline phone, Internet or TV. NO other services are eligible.
If you meet that requirement the scholarship has some pretty open options for application. Please see the link below so that you get all the details. APPLICATIONS ARE DUE MARCH 1st
The second opportunity is the NEX-TECH Technology Education Sponsorship Program. This program is for students that are planning to go into Telecommunications or Information Technology. If the student agrees to work for NEX-TECH for 3 years they will pay for tuition and books. If they agree to work for 4 years NEX-TECH will also give the student a housing stipend. The USD 109 BOE meeting is rescheduled for 6:30 pm on Monday, January 15th.

Jr High Wrestling practice will start tomorrow after school in the cafeteria. Parent meeting will follow at 6:00 pm in the cafeteria.
Republic County Juniors will get the opportunity to take the ACT free through the school at the end of February. We are sharing an opportunity for students to take a class that can help prepare them for the test. This ACT PowerPrep class will be taught by an ACT-trained facilitator. It will give tips on taking each section of the test and how to best utilize your time. Students may use one of their college visit days to take this class.
The class is being offered on Monday, February 5th at the Concordia High School. If students register before Thursday, January 25th, the cost of the class is $60.00. After the 25th it goes to $75. The class goes from 8:30-1:30 on the 5th. The link will give you more information and allow you to register for the class. If you have questions please talk to one of the counselors.

The high school basketball game at Sacred Heart for tomorrow has been postponed to a later date. We will update as soon as we know the date for sure.

The Concordia JV Wrestling Tournament today has been cancelled. The wrestlers that were going to attend this meet will now be going to Tri-County to compete.

The Junior High Buffs hosted the Concordia Panthers tonight in their season finale. Both the B and C teams pulled away for their final win of the season. The A boys played an exciting game, but lost a heartbreaker.

ACT is offering counselors a chance to share $5.00 off the cost of the ACT test with our students. You can use the voucher code when you register to take the February, April, June or July ACT test
All RCHS Juniors will be taking the test for free, on Wed, Feb 28th, but students may already know that they want to take it a second time to try to raise their score.
Sophomores, may want to take the test this summer to see what the test is like, and see if they can get a higher score next year when they take it at school.

The key is that they must register to take which ever test they want to take by Jan. 22nd. After that the voucher code will not work. Everything you need to know is on the attached voucher.

The Kansas State Department of Education Association of Educational Office Professionals offers a scholarship for any student that is planning to enter an Education or Business related field. The Margaret Van Horn Scholarship is a $400 scholarship. The student must be planning to attend classes at any post secondary educational facility in the state of Kansas. I can finally share this piece! Adam Krohn made this special pet portrait as a gift for Christmas. It took him about two months to complete. Foreshortening is no joke, and this student killed it! Can't wait to show this piece off during competitions in the spring!
