State Treasurer's Office announces promotion to give 10 teachers $1,000 each

The nominating process is under way to give 10 Kansas teachers $1,000 each in celebration of National Teacher Appreciation Week.

The promotion was announced by Kansas State Treasurer Lynn Rogers. “Kansas teachers have worked tirelessly to overcome the countless challenges they have encountered over the past year, and I thought they deserved a little extra recognition this National Teacher Appreciation Week," said Rogers.

National Teacher Appreciation Week runs from May 3-7. Beginning this week people are invited to nominate a Kansas teacher for the $1,000 award by using this online form. The deadline to nominate a teacher is noon this Friday (April 30).

The State Treasurer’s office will announce two winners each day starting May 3. Winners will be chosen at random. Limit one entry per person. Duplicate entries will be deleted. No purchases are necessary. No taxpayer dollars are contributing to this award fund. The awards will be paid through the State Treasurer’s Office's partnership with Learning Quest 529 Savings Plans. Winners will have a choice to receive a check or a contribution to a new or existing 529 Savings Plan.
