In the spring of 1986 Mr. Sheets was hired to teach Government, Psychology, and Sociology as well as coach HS Football, JH Basketball, and Track. For 26 years the constant was that he taught Government and Psychology. Other subjects included World History, American Problems, Economics, Geography, Human Sexuality, College Psychology, and PE at various times in his career. Mr. Sheets has coached most sports at Belleville/Republic County Junior/Senior High School at one time or another. His coaching involves Football(JH Head Coach and HS Assistant), Volleyball(HS Head Coach), Cross Country Assistant, Basketball( HS Head Boys and Girls Coach, JH Head Boys and Girls Coach), Track (HS Assistant and JH Head Coach), and Softball Assistant Coach. In 2013 Mr. Sheets was hired to be the principal at Republic Junior Senior High School, where he still works.
