Device Policy

As we prepare for the 2026–2027 school year, Kansas schools are implementing the new statewide Cell Phone and Personal Electronic Device Policy, designed to create distraction-free learning environments where students can focus, engage, and succeed.

At Republic County Jr./Sr. High School, students in grades 6–12 will continue using our Yondr system to securely store personal electronic devices during the school day. Devices covered by the policy include cell phones, smart watches, tablets, personal laptops, wireless earbuds/headphones, and other personal communication devices.

A few important reminders:

📱 Devices must be powered off and secured from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

🔒 Students will secure their devices in their assigned Yondr Bag. High school students who drive to school may also choose to leave their powered-off devices secured in their vehicle during the school day.

☎️ Students always have access to the school office phone for urgent communication with parents or guardians.

❤️ Exceptions may be made for documented medical needs and students with qualifying accommodations.

This policy is about much more than limiting screen time. It is about maximizing instructional time, encouraging meaningful interactions, reducing distractions, and helping our students be fully engaged in their learning each day.

Thank you for partnering with us as we continue to create a positive learning environment where every student can thrive.
