Hi! My name is Pam Gallion. I am a fourth grade teacher at East Elementary. This is my 9th year at East. Previously I taught 5th and 6th grade ELA at Washington County, 4th and 5th grade math at Washington County, 4th grade at North Central Elementary in Haddam, K-5 grade music at North Central, and 3rd and 4th grades in Hanover. I graduated from North Central High School. From there, I attended Cloud County Community College where I performed in the Great Society. Following graduation, I attended Fort Hays University where I earned my B.S. in Elementary Education.
My interests include music! I love to sing, dance, play the piano and entertain. Currently I sing in two groups, the 10 Pieces, a gospel group from my church and The S’s, a woman’s trio. I enjoy singing and performing for people. Someday soon, I hope to learn to play the guitar. I like to read and take walks. (Not necessarily at the same time!) My favorite subject to teach is math. Just ask any former student of mine.
I live in Mahaska with my husband, Kirk. I have three grown daughters. Lindsay is a chiropractor in Overland Park. Tahra is married to Jared Zenger. She works at Main Street Vision. She is the mother of my two adorable grandchildren, Jocelyn and Forrest. My youngest daughter, Shelby, works at Citizen’s National Bank in Belleville. I also have a 9 year old silky haired Pomeranian named Lily.
Having taught fourth grade for a number of years, I have found that fourth grade is a year of growth and challenges in which students advance to more independent learning. To assist in the academic excellence of all students, my expectations are high. I remain excited about education and helping students achieve their full potential. I’m looking forward to an amazing school year!
