I was born and raised in Minnesota. I married my husband, Terry, the first year I taught on the Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota. We have enjoyed being a part of our three children's lives as they have grown to adulthood. Our daughter, Sara, and her husband live in Texas with their two young sons. Our daughter, Kristi, and her husband live close to Wichita, with their two young sons and daughter. Our son, Joel, is an engineer in Salina. Our daughters graduated from BHS and our son graduated from RCHS.
I do not think I chose to be a teacher; rather I think it chose me. I cannot remember a time that I didn't want to be a teacher. I love children. I am happiest when I am with children. They are so honest and trusting; so energetic and eager to learn. They have taught me so much. To be able to see the world through their eyes is a blessing. To be able to teach and spend my days with young children is a blessing. Thank you.
